The Eames DSR side chair pairs Charles and Ray Eames’ moulded plastic side shell, first introduced in 1950, with a base. This version, made by Vitra, sits on a warm wooden dowel base with black powder-coated cross struts for a softer, more residential feel.
The black shell balances industrial form with natural texture, ideal for dining rooms, creative studios and home offices.
The Eames shell chair is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Condition
Used, in good condition. Professionally cleaned. Minor scuffs or wear may be present from general use. Timber is a natural material, so variations in grain are part of its character, not defects.

About Charles & Ray Eames ▾
Husband-and-wife team Charles (1907–1978) and Ray Eames (1912–1988) are among the most influential designers of the 20th century. From their studio in Venice, Los Angeles, they pioneered new ways of moulding plywood, fibreglass, plastic and aluminium into furniture that was comfortable, durable and affordable to produce. They were also architects and filmmakers, known for their own Eames House (1949) and the short film Powers of Ten.
