The Eames Plastic Armchair was designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1950, first presented through the Museum of Modern Art's Low-Cost Furniture Design competition, and their Plastic Chairs became icons of American mid-century modernism. The Eameses described their goal as “getting the most of the best to the greatest number of people for the least”, and few of their designs came closer to it.

DAR stands for Dining height Armchair Rod base: a moulded, dyed-through polypropylene shell on the chrome wire base with cross struts often called the Eiffel base. This one has a light blue shell and is the authentic Vitra version, made in Germany.

Also available in lemon yellow and black.

Condition
Pre-owned, with light signs of use. Several available, and each varies. The shells are clean on the inside, with some scuff marks underneath. See photos.

Ideal for
Dining, meeting rooms, home offices, cafés and breakout areas.
